Spring is here - and we have a new look!
It's been a while since I've posted anything exciting (well let's face it until we get our referral, what's really going to be that exciting to read about in our life?) ... I'll do my best to keep y'all entertained - and that includes a NEW LOOK to our blog! What do you think?
We were officially DTC on 3/24/2006 ... for those who need that translated: Our dossier (or all the paperwork we gathered since November) was mailed to China last Friday. We received confirmation today that it safely made it overseas and is in China. We have one more important date to receive - our Log-in-Date (or LID for short). This is the date the CCAA (or Center of Chinese Adoption Affairs) logs in our dossier. Then officially the wait begins. The LID's seem to be coming fairly quickly - like within 3 weeks of the dossiers being mailed over.

Cool new look!!!
Chris and Chrissie,
Congratulations on getting your dossier completed and off to China! That certainly is a major milestone. As you said, of course, a lot of waiting happens now, without much news. The good part is that the Chinese process is very predictable, which will be one less thing to worry about compared to people adopting from some other places. (Some places are reeeeeeally bad.)
It is still hard to wait for many prospective parents, though. I hope you can enjoy the time - getting your house ready and doing things that won't be so simple with kids.
As for life with two from China, we recently hired a Chinese woman who comes in for six hours a week to speak Chinese with the kids. That, combined with songs at our FCC playgroup and Follow Jade DVDs has them using more Chinese lately. With persistence and a little luck, they'll be bilingual as they get older. (That's a good thing, right? Hmm. Teenagers with their own private language...uh oh.)
Today the highlight will be going to the pool - the silver bullet of kids activities. They love it.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns as you get further into the process.
I hope you receive your LID ASAP!
Love your new look!
Looks great, Chrissie! Congrats on being DTC!
