Baby It's Cold Outside

The thermometer reached a brutally-cold 8 degrees today -- with wind chills much below that. A harsh first day of winter for the Great Lakes region. We were thankful that our holiday entertaining was at our house today, thus much of my morning was spent "primping" for the event this afternoon.

There was something missing in the kitchen.

Logan.

He was glued to the front window watching this little fellow (that lives in one of the big maple trees across the street) working hard to find food in the grape vineyards across from our house. Either he hit the jackpot (and kept coming back for more), or he really had to work hard at it and savored every bite. I was feeling mighty sorry for him...(the squirrel, not Logan).

Today was our first glimpse of Carley opening gifts for the 2008 Christmas season. I think its going to be a pretty entertaining week. Almost as if we had practiced with her for a really big reaction, she did a fantastic job of expressing her emotions about the gift(s).

We have two giant oak trees in our front yard and I watch those squirrels work it all winter. It's pretty wild.

Little kids are the best for opening presents. With few exceptions, adults just can't do the over the top, so excited they can't sit still reaction.

It is verrrryyy cold outside.

Love Carley's reaction. So far this year Anna has flat out refused to open a single present. All she says is nooo!

Merry Christmas
