A rare November gift

Holy heatwave. It was beautiful in our area this weekend ... temperatures way above normal - a rare gift in late November. Last year over Thanksgiving weekend, we were shoveling our way out of snow. This year I was half tempted to pull out the lounge chair and bask in the sun.

Instead, we took advantage of today's weather to put out some Christmas lights. No, we don't go overboard ... garland with some wreaths hanging from our white fence in the front and a wreath with white lights on the front door. I keep it simple.

Meanwhile, next door, Clark Griswold has been hard at work for the past week. Egh gads ... I'm nervous to see the end result. I can tell they're multi-colored lights that outline the entire house. I'm hoping we're invited over for the big unvailing. Chris said he saw sightings of a minature sleigh and reindeer in the garage ... we'll assume that goes on the roof. And just in case you're wondering if they're the type of neighbors that leave the lights up all year - they're not.

Have bucket ... will Travel

I'm leaving on Wednesday with my parents to head 7 hours south to visit my sister and her family for Thanksgiving. Chris is staying behind ... he has to work on Friday, he wanted to stay here with his Mom and Dad for Thanksgiving, and "Boy Wonder" wouldn't survive in a kennel. No worries - we're not making a habit of going our seperate ways for future holidays. This isn't the norm for us, and there's still some bit of guilt on my behalf for leaving.

My Mom suggested that I call the OB nurse to make sure it would be "safe" for me to travel. OK. As suspected, since I haven't had any "pregnancy issues", the nurse said it was fine - just make frequent stops to stretch and empty my bladder.

I chuckled at the suggestion. A day in the life of Chrissie lately means a restroom stop atleast every 30 minutes. At times, its ridiculous. I can't make it through a 1-hour meeting without excusing myself.

Later that night, I called my Mom back to assure her the nurse "ok'd" the trip and, I added, frequent stops should be made. Immediately Mom was concerned about a certain stretch of thruway where rest stops are not plentiful. "We're packing you a bucket" she says emphatically. And, I do believe, she's serious. In lieu of a bucket, I'm going to pack an empty Maxwell House coffee can. Atleast that has a lid ... just in case.

Entertainment at its best!

I found this website from Stephe's blog ... this is quite entertaining. Give it a try ... although I must warn you that it did match me as a celebrity look-alike with Will Smith and some other dude I have no idea who he is. Luckily, the men celebrities didn't make my "top 5 look-alikes". I'm quite impressed this system thinks I resemble Marilyn Monroe.

Enjoy! (By the way, I had to shrink it down, else it got rid of everything in the sidebar on my blog)

By the way - who is Maria Sharapova? Should I know her??

Almost 12 hours ... and counting

...until the sonogram.

This is rather nerve-wracking. Who would have thought a sonogram would pre-occupy my mind so much? I'm trying to stay focused on what the "real" reason is for the sonogram - measurements, all body parts where they should be, size is good for 21-weeks, etc, etc...heck, I even gave a little lecture to my mother-in-law last night not to go into this tomorrow with the wrong focus. Yes, the gang will all be there for the event - Chris (obviously), my parents, and Chris' Mom.

But gosh darn it, I've got shopping to do! Is that what people feel like the night before receiving "the call" with their referral? Granted, most would know if they requested a baby girl or boy from China - but they'd be seeing their baby's face for the first time. I won't be getting that clear of a picture, but the feelings have to be similar - don't you think?

Say a little prayer all is well with Betty Shim - then say a little prayer "shim" cooperates so we can tell the sex! Until tomorrow...
