Kimora would be Proud

Typical of weather around the Great Lakes region, a cold snap can strike at any time during the autumn season. I always feel unprepared -- giving my flip flops one last look and debating if 50 degrees is slightly too cold for sporting them just one time.

This past week it was too cold. Out with the Reefs, in with the Uggs.

Carley's drawers are still sporting summer-like clothes. Perhaps its a bit of denial on my part -- hoping for that last blast of indian summer-type weather. I've procrastinated buying appropriate cold weather clothes, so last week when it was a sunny, but chilly day, I scrambled through the closets to see what I could scrounge up for warmth.

Several things that I bought for Carley last winter were too big -- packed away for the summer months, never expecting them to fit her this year thus being added to the "eBay sales" bin. I scrambled to the "eBay sales" bin last week --hoping to find warm enough clothes for a quick trip outside.

And just like a vision -- sitting at the very top of the bin -- the ever-so-stylish Baby Phat hat from last winter. A gift from grandma, and presented as follows: I found this really cute hat today. Some brand, I guess, not sure ... baby "P" hat?

So there you have it. Its always fashion first with Carley -- sporting her Baby P. Hat.

Too Close for Comfort

Eight years ago when I finally caved and agreed to get a puppy, apparently we didn't research our breeds well enough. We were drawn to a Weimaraner. Understandably so -- we don't go anywhere without compliments on Logan. They're a strikingly-odd breed in looks, with a silver coat that is like velvet and amber eyes that almost appear to glow in the dark. As a puppy, they're squeezably soft and even more beautiful with eyes so blue, you'd swear they were colored contacts.

They're lovable, too. Oh yes. Lap dogs, if you let them. He's 92-lbs of love.

(Here's the section where I admit that I didn't realize Weimaraners weren't so independent)
He's also 92-lbs of love that refuses to leave me alone. Why does he follow me around all day...attached to my hip (literally) like a 2-year old clinging to a mother? Why won't he stop stepping on my heels? Why does he go outside, for all of 3 minutes, realizing he can't catch that chipmunk and now he's come inside with grass and mud in his paws, and I must sit there cleaning him up while all the while giving me that look of patheticness?

Why? Because he's a Weimaraner. Independence is not his speciality.

Logan's average distance from my right hip.

A Picture Moment - Brought to you by the Sixth Meme

I was tagged by Cara to participate in the Sixth meme - a little blogger fun for this Monday. Here are the guidelines:

  • Go to your sixth picture folder then pick your sixth picture.

  • Pray (ok, maybe not pray) that you remember the details.

  • Tag 5 others, leave a comment to let them know they've been tagged (do I have to pick 5?)

Oh boy. Let's talk about why we're in pink t-shirts, and why I am in a skirt with pink faux fur around the bottom. And yes, that is a pink sparkle belt to go with the whole "theme". A few years back, a group of us put a spin on Sean "Diddy" Combs' annual "White Party". We held our annual "Pink Party", thus the pink ensembles. Yes, there is drinking. Yes, there is food. And yes, you must wear pink. Good times...

The Little Lone Pumpkin

It started off as a .75 cent accessory for Carley's pictures earlier this week. Now its become a .75 cent ball. Amazing that a little pumpkin about 5 inches in diameter can bounce like it can. Hardy, too. One of these times, I expect pumpkin seeds scattered all over the garage.

Don't mistake her for a Turkey

I'm not a huge fan of Halloween. If you think about the concept, its a little silly. Dress up. Carry around a bag. Knock on doors. Yell Trick-or-Treat.

I know.
Not the right attitude to have, particularly when Carley is now old enough to (somewhat) understand and enjoy dressing up in costume.
My sister last year emphasized the importance of costume shopping early. They can get picked-over, you know, rather quickly. Last year I eagerly assigned costume shopping to my parents, and I once again delegated this task to them.

They were up for the challenge and promptly got Carley to the mall today to pick out the ever-so-important cutliciously adorable costume. At first, I thought she was going to be a turkey, sticking with the "bird theme" from last year. Although I was wrong, here's a little preview:

And just for a little blast-from-the-past...here's Halloween '07:
